What each rarity means
- Common (C): The bulk of every pack. Almost all are worth cents.
- Uncommon (U): Several per pack, mostly bulk.
- Rare (R): About 10 per box. Playable staples can be worth a little.
- Super Rare (SR): About 6 per box, the top base rarity and where competitive staples live.
- Action Point (AP): The action point cards every deck uses, about 2 per box, with special art versions.
- 1-star parallel (★): Alternate-art parallels marked with one star, about one per box.
- 2-star parallel (★★): Rarer parallels, roughly one in every 16 boxes.
- 3-star parallel (★★★): The rarest parallels, roughly one in every 50 boxes, and the biggest chase in most sets.
- Precious rarities: Cards from Precious Boosters, a separate premium product with its own structure.
What this means for collectors
- A typical 3-star parallel is worth about 647 times a typical Super Rare, so a box's value swings on whether it hits one.
- 98% of commons, uncommons and rares are worth under one dollar. The value of a box sits in the star parallels.
- Prices differ a lot between series: a 1-star from a popular anime can outsell a 3-star from a quieter one. Compare series on the Union Arena series list.
